Cuatrisimo. Left to right: Jose Obando
(Lecturer); Luisito Rodriguez; Hector "Pucho" Alamo; Juan Usera; Quique Ayala; Obanilu Allende; Guillermo Colon; and Yomo Toro.
Lecture shows the 34 variations of
the Puerto Rican rhythm: Seis; the 7 rhythms of Aguinaldo and at bottom,
the 17 Cuban rhythms.
Luisito Rodriguez is a gentle giant. Although he plays the tres for Johnny Pacheco's band for many years, his first love is the Cuatro.
Luisito Ayala is a very well known singer and has performed with many great Salsa bands.
Quique Ayala (left) is a Cuatro virtuoso.
He teaches children how to play this beautiful instrument.
Luisito shakes hands with Gilberto
"Pulpo" Colon, Jr. (pianist). Mr. Colon was the musical director for Hector LaVoe for 17 years.
Mr. Yomo Toro, the star of the show, looks on as "Pucho", our youngest Cuatro player, accompanies him.
